Djamileh
by Georges Bizet

Friday, October 3, 2008
Saturday, October 4, 2008

Cocktails beginning 6:30 P.M. Performance beginning 7:30 P.M.

Swap the flamenco gypsy for a belly dancer in a carpet emporium! Sexier, more exotic, and funnier than Bizet’s other great heroine Carmen, join us to see how Djamileh, the lovely slave girl from the Arabian Nights, woos her master into marriage.  This glorious one act comic opera by Bizet is a rarely performed Persian jewel – and Opera Theater presents it in surroundings that would grace any luxury harem: the magnificent carpet hall at Artifacts in the West End.  Join us for a drink and amuse-gueules before the show in the spectacular furniture galleries upstairs, then come down and recline on the most sumptuous carpets you have ever seen and be carried away by the music and magic of Djamileh.
